Our Mission

In December 2011, we went through a process to evaluate and reaffirm our mission statement as a church. Here is our updated mission statement:

Our mission is to partner with God and our community to love, serve, and support our neighbors.

We do this through:

  • Seeking to learn and follow the way of Jesus
  • Gathering for participative worship services
  • Using our gifts to serve each other and our neighbors
  • Growing in friendship and care for one another
  • Reaching out with acceptance and love

This Sunday at Jacob’s Well

Do you ever wonder why our relationships aren’t working and what the Bible says about how to fix them? Join us on Sundays as we start a new sermon series looking at the Bible’s Teaching on Relationships.

January – February Schedule

Jan 29 - Ephesians 4:1-3 “Setting up your Relationships for Success”

Feb 5 - Ephesians 4:3-6 “How the Church Helps and Hinders”

Feb 12 - Guest speaker Erik Kamp “Learning to Love”

Feb 19 – Ephesians 4:25-32 “Facing Conflict with Hope”

Quote of the week

Each Sunday as part of our worship, we invite someone in our community to share a picture, poem, or quote that they have found especially meaningful in their lives. We invite them to bring this quote to our Sunday gathering, and show or read it to us, and then tell us why it is meaningful to them. Here are some recent quotes:

February 5 – From Kim K…

“God does leave us to the consequences of our stupid decisions. But
our pain has a purpose: problems, struggles, heartaches, and hassles
cooperate toward one end–the glory of God.  Is there any chance you
have been selected to struggle for God’s glory?”

From It’s Not About ME by Max Lucado.

January 29 – From Erik K…

“We are what we repeatedly do, excellence therefore is not an act but a habit.” ~ Aristotle

New nursery open …

We’ve recently completed the renovation of one of the rooms in our church building, and have opened it up as our new nursery! Thanks to the volunteers who helped create this space. We hope that Jacob’s Well can be a place where children – as well as adults – can experience God’s love.

Sonshine Express Pre-School Program

Sonshine Express is a preschool program that meets at Jacob’s Well. We still have room for more children in our Fall program!

Sonshine Express is a faith-based preschool. Our program is  designed to help your child grow intellectually, physically,  emotionally, socially, and creatively. Our classes are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00am to 11:30am.

Our Goals Include:

We are a new church in Evergreen Park, Illinois.
We are seeking to be learners and followers of Jesus Christ.

Our services are informal and participative.
You are welcome to ask questions and make comments …
not simply sit back and be preached at.
You can be yourself, wear what you want,
and bring your doubts as well as your faith.

We are a community of neighbors and friends …
not just a church that holds services.
We’d love to meet you!
